A New Kind of Contest!!!

How to enter:

Draw, paint, papercraft, sculpt, etc. one (or all) of the characters listed below--

Rules: You may submit as many entries as you like of one OR all of the characters listed and in doing so it may increase your chances of winning!!! (No nudity please).

Anyone is welcome to enter! THREE winners will be selected (a deviant may only win once, so there will be three separate deviants selected as winners), one for each character!!!

(Depending on the number of participants- I may select 2nd and 3rd prize winners under each character and offer art or maybe even subs as 2nd or 3rd prizes- again, depending on the turn-out!)

Deadline! March 25th, 2009 -OR- when each character has up to 5 entries!!!
(So if I get more than 15 entries the deadline will be March 25th, if March 25th rolls around and there are still less than 15 entries the deadline will be when I receive the 15th entry.)

NOTE: I might be willing to accept literature/fanfiction/etc. submissions also, just comment or note me. Dojinshi is welcome! Minumum 1 page, maximum 3 pages.

Race/Species: Gargoylian (similar to Disney's Gargoyles)

Height: 6'

Brow (forehead): Four... ... Crest Bumps?
Hair: Spikey, Honey Brown, Shoulder Blade Length
Eyes: Large (disney-ish or manga-ish) & Mud Brown
Wingspan: Probably around 12' - 15'
Tail: 10' - 12' (it's supposed to be a little extra-long)
Skin: Varies (color is up to the artist) with silver hints
Wing Membranes: Varies (color is up to the artist though outer membranes are a few shades darker than inner membranes and they can be two completely different colors)
*Please Note: There one of two ways Griffin can be drawn; with or without the following: gills, tail fin, and webbed hands & feet. Should one choose to draw the amphibious version of her the webbings on her hands and feet match the color of her wing membranes. The tail fin matches the color of her skin, save the RED spine that begins the fin.
She also only has three fingers and a thumb on each hand and three toes with a heel spike on her feet. Any rings she is wearing with webbed hands and feet double as piercings...

Cloths: Varies (clothing is also up to the artist) *Please Note: Griffin has no nipples and no naval (belly button). She can be drawn in renaissance-type clothes, punk, grunge, jeans and a t-shirt, cyber suits, any type of armor, etc... (she's pretty versatile, but not the preppy, prissy or extremely girly type)

Griffin's weapons: Klave, A Serrated Yautja Knife & Long Bull Whip

Markings/Piercings/Tatoos: She has 4 silver rings in her right ear (3 in the lobe and one in the cartlidge) and 3 silver rings in her left ear. Other Jewelry: She always wears a silver band on her left middle finger and a silver bracelet on her right wrist. Any other jewelry is optional. Tattoos: Part of the Eye of Horus under her right eye, dots and a 42 under her left, swirls on the left part of her brow.

Personality: Griffin is an Aries Fire-Type through and through. Her spirit energy is so strong that you can usually see a flame at the end of her tail similar to kitsune-bi or "fox fire." In her strongest form the fox fire shows up at her wrists and ankles. She's not a big touchy-feely kind of gargoyle and gets annoyed very easily. Her anger is dangerous for everyone around her, but she can also be quite loving too. She is highly protective of her family and friends and even though she sounds gruff she has quite the sense of humor!

Cultural Reference: Her Clan heralds from a remote part of Spain. A past/present/future/fantasy/reality setting works. As I said before, Griffin is very versatile; she can be drawn into any cartoon, anime or show, standing over a decapitated demon head or working at an ACE Hardware! Just have fun!

Mood/Requests/Suggestions: Original art is very welcome! If you're more into fanarts, my favorite animes/cartoons are Bleach, Saiyuki, Pumpkin Scissors, InuYasha, Wolf's Rain, Tree of Palme, Princess Mononoke, Samurai X, Howl's Moving Castle, Avatar (she can be drawn as a fire bender), Gargoyles, and Futurama! You could draw, paint, sculpt, papercraft Griffin in the styles of any of those series', a 1-3 page dojinshi, or in your own original style!!! As far as themes go, I'm not opposed to irony or humor- almost anything goes, violence is okay- just no nudity or vulgar unholy stuff please!

Height: 6'5"
Weight: 250 lbs.
Hair: Short, Spikey, Dark Brown
Eyes: Left eye- normal/average green, Right eye -a scar that runs vertical from forehead to cheek, what would be the white of his eye is black/red and the iris is a shade darker green than the left.
Ears: Pointed, left pierced.
Tail: A wolf's tail that matches his hair color.
Skin: Lightly tanned with several scars.

Cloths: Varies (clothing is also up to the artist) *Please Note: Mereyan's favorite colors are green and purple. He can be drawn in renaissance-type clothes, punk, grunge, jeans and a t-shirt (or no shirt ), any type of armor, etc... (He's pretty versatile, but not the preppy/jock type)

Personality: Mereyan is a Taurus Earth type. He's generally pretty laid back, but it's not a good idea to piss him off. He's very strong and his weapons are very heavy, though he wields them with the greatest ease. He's humorous, mischievious and quite playful! He is also very protective of those dearest to him.

Cultural Reference: His pack heralds from a remote part of Ireland though he's lived far from his country long enough that he no longer carries the accent. A past/present/future/fantasy/reality setting works. As I said before, Mereyan is very versatile; he can be drawn into any cartoon, anime or show, standing over a decapitated demon head or working at Target! Just have fun!

Tendrils: Long, past waist, dark red, almost black. Decorative silver clips on random tendrils with bone beads and feathers hanging from some of them...
Eyes: Green
Skin: Blue Gray with Dark Gray & Black Speckles
Status: Guardian (Nrak'ytara)

Clothes: Serrated, scarred helmet. Metal top w/ ribcage armor, metal shoulder pad and reinforced wristblades on right forearm, black leather metal-spiked straps and cyber suit sleeve on left arm, brown leather scaled skirt, reinforced cyber suit leg on left lower leg and golden serrated metal armor on right. Strappy sandals.

Markings/Piercings/Tatoos: Her speckles form stripes on her arms and legs and diamonds on her chest and abdomen. Her right collar bone is permantly pierced with two silver yautja-metal rings welded shut around the clavicle. Scars on the left side of her chest beneath the armor and on her right leg from Xenomorph prey.

Personality: Warrior/huntress; serious and volatile, but easily amused. She does not like to be touched and becomes easily agitated. Others generally stay out of her way, not only because of her massive size, but because it's easier to avoid her than it is to risk a potential confrontation with her. She is extremely strong and tough beyond that. Her history is unknown as she seldom speaks of the past, no one knows much about her, but her fighting style is a picture of deadly grace, unique to her kind.

ALTERNATE CONTEST


Design This Character: What do you get when you cross a gargoyle and a wolf-demon? Good question!
What would the son of Griffin and Mereyan look like? Heredity would suggest that he would indefinately have pointed ears and a tail of some sort with a possibility of wings and a brow, so this is your challenge: Design the son of these two lovebirds!

RULES:
No nudity (for obvious reasons). I would prefer designs ranging in ages from 0+ mos. - 5yrs of age, but I am one of the many I know that cannot draw children so designs should range from ages 0+ months to no older than Early/Mid-Teen.
Participants may submit as many entries as they like as it may increase their chances of winning.
